School is out at 1:30 today. No school Thursday and Friday. Remind your parents of Parent/Teacher conferences!

Basketball starts next Tuesday. Remember to check to see if you are signed up, arrange a ride to be picked up at 4:15 BEFORE school, and be sure to wear appropriate clothing and pay your fee.


Healthy Futures Challenge Participants
If you turned in a September log and are still waiting on a flyer disc, please know that they are coming SOON! We know who still needs one! We had over 100 students turn in a log last month, WOW!!!

October Healthy Futures logs are due NO LATER than Wednesday, November 5. In order to receive a COOL water bottle prize, your log must include your FIRST AND LAST name and be completely filled out!

WHEN & WHO: Monday through Friday, 3:00-6:00PM for K-5th grade, held at Seward Elementary School.
WHAT: A program that offers enrichment in core academics, tutoring, homework assistance, recreation, arts, crafts, computer technology, character building, leadership and goal setting.
WHY: To help raise a child’s academic performance thus raising his or her self-confidence.

TYC & Seward Parks & Rec NEWS
TYC After School Program is back! Come check out Seward Teen & Youth Center’s After School Program for K-5th grades! ASP emphasizes cooperative play, sports, environmental science, outdoor play, creative arts, homework help, music appreciation and social enhancement. Children can chose from a number of daily activities from science experiments, to baking projects to board games to field trips to a local park and much, much more! ASP runs Monday-Friday from 3:20-5:30pm. Children may catch a ride on bus #3 from school. There is a $3 daily drop in fee or punch cards are available, $30 for 10 visits for $50 for 20 visits, or Annual Booster Passes are available for $200. There are scholarships available as well. TYC is located at 3rd Avenue & Jefferson below the Senior Center on the alley side. 224-5472 *With 6th grade now being considered Middle School, those kids will be eligible to join out Teen Time after school program for teens from 2:30-9pm throughout the week. TYC’s School’s Out Day Camps & Vacation Break Camps: No school Thursday October 30th and Friday October 31st.
Join us for days filled with arts & crafts, baking, outdoor adventures, cooperative games & team building, movies & popcorn, music & dancing, science experiments and more! Camps run 7:45am-5:30pm daily. Campers need to bring a lunch, morning and afternoon snacks or money for the Snack Shack. Get the best rate for day camps with early registration. Space is limited. Regular rate is $20 (3 weeks prior to camp). Late fee and drop in rate, space permitting, is $25. TYC offers discounts for week long camps (coming in December, January, March and throughout the summer) to families who qualify for AK food stamps programs, Denali Kid Care, WIC, and free or reduced lunches. SPRD now open Saturdays!
Sports & Rec at the AVTEC Gym hours are Mon-Fri 2-9pm and will now be open Saturdays from 10am – 6pm. Roller Skating is Fridays 5:30 to 7 and Saturdays 2 to 3:30pm.

Halloween Carnival

Glacier Family Medicine Pumpkin Prowl at Forest Acres Park
Sat, Oct 25th at 6:30pm Search for mini pumpkins, roast marshmallows and sip hot cocoa. Free event, fun for the whole family!

Family Masquerade Ball
Sat, Oct 25th following the Pumpkin Prowl walk on over to the Seward Resort and do the Monster Mash, enjoy refreshments and win prizes! Costume contest will be announced at 8pm – $3 in costume; $4 no costume and $10 for families
