INTERESTING FACT: Guinness World Records can today (11/24/15) confirm that Lucas Etter, a 14-year-old from Kentucky, US, has set a new world record for the fastest time to solve a Rubik’s Cube, becoming the first person to break the 5 second barrier for unmixing a standard 3x3x3 puzzle. Watch the video onhttp://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/maryland-teenager-sets-new-rubik-cube-world-record-article-1.2445701

Fast-fingered Lucas completed the puzzle in an astounding 4.904 seconds during an event at the River Hill High School in Clarksville, Maryland on Saturday.

The feat has been ratified by the World Cube Association, an organization recognized by Guinness World Records that regulates and holds Rubik’s Cube competitions.

Incredibly, the event had seen the record broken once already earlier in the day, with Keaton Ellis, a fellow speed cuber from Maryland, managing to solve the cube in 5.09 seconds, beating the previous record of 5.25 seconds set by Collin Burns back in April.
